Our Mission
|
The mission of the Chicago Tabernacle is to be a place of becoming for all who long to know and serve the Lord. Becoming takes place as we pursue God, love with His heart, and devote ourselves to serving others into greatness. As we do this, we are transformed into His image and become all that God has called us to be. "But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to BECOME children of God." John 1:12 PursueThe Word. We pursue God through disciplined reading and meditation of His infallible Living Word (Psalm 119:16). Prayer. It is not only our privilege, but our duty to pursue the Lord through prayer and communication with Him. It is through this that we receive the power from the Holy Spirit to lead Godly lives and impact His kingdom (Isaiah 56:7).
Worship. We express our thanks and praise for the Lord through worship - not necessarily for what He has done, but for who He is. True worship exists when we lose our self-consciousness and humble ourselves before Him, allowing our hearts to be completely opened up to Him in every area of our lives. (Psalms 89:15).
LoveBy sharing the Gospel. It is our commission as the Lord's servants to spread the Gospel throughout the world, and regardless of our circumstances to be living examples and testimonies to God's love and grace (Matthew 28:19-20).
By demonstrating generosity towards one another. We are to love our brothers and sisters in Christ just as Jesus loved us. As Christians, our sole obligations reside in our faith toward God and our love toward humanity (1 John 3:23).
By developing Christ-centered relationships. Christian fellowship is much more than a pat on the back, a handshake, or even a heartfelt hug. It means sharing the burdens and the blessings of others so that we may all grow and glorify in the Lord (Hebrews 10:24-25).
ServeBy raising Godly children. It is a priority of the church to raise up Godly children. Our ministry and service to God will end in vain if it is not carried on through the following generations (Proverbs 22:6).
By faithfully involving yourself in a ministry. God's ordinance to us is to use the gifts that the Spirit has given us in order to support the local body, reach the lost, and encourage and unite fellow believers (Romans 12:11).
By investing our lives to bless the people of God. In any situation or area of our lives, we must wear God's love as a stamp, showing we belong to Jesus. Especially in times of trial and persecution, it is important to hold this truth in our hearts so that the saints may be united (1 Peter 4:10).
